ANOTHER OPPRESSIVE SYSTEM 2001-2004: The First Four Years CD

From the same scene that brought us such legends as DEFORMED CONSCIENCE, STATE OF FEAR, REACT and DIALLO (in fact, they have one former of the latter) was born ANOTHER OPPRESSIVE SYSTEM. This CD anthology collects together this band's first four years of studio records, most of which are currently out of print. Included are 20 songs pulled from their s/t EP and splits with THREE-WAY CUM, WORLD ON WELFARE, HUMAN WASTE and CROSSING CHAOS. If you have not yet heard A.O.S., then you are missing out on some of the best Scandi-influenced crust this side of the new millenium: Musically intense but varied, with intellent and political lyrics, and awesome male / female vocals growls. They are currently writing songs for a full-length LP to be released on PE in the near future.

C.L.I.T.Fest '04: The Documentary DVD

Making it's debut at the second annual C.L.I.T.Fest, this documentary covers the previous year's festival: a first of a kind fest held in Minneapolis, MN to promote the active participation of women in the punk movement as well as educate against and help eradicate sexism in punk and beyond. The feature documentary, filrmed and directed by Primal Tek Productions, includes interviews with and commentary from performers, organizers, and other participants, as well as live footage from BEHIND ENEMY LINES, THE PROFITS, VOETSEK, HUMAN ORDER, PROVOKED, GARMONBOZIA, DISRESPECT, DAISY'S COMPACT MICE, SWASHBUBKLER and MENSTRUALT TRAMPS. Also included on the DVD are a 64 picture slide show from the event, ten videos from the feature, plus a six-song jukebox with five additional songs not included in the feature documentary. Get the inside scoop on the people and ideas behind the event that is taking the punk movement by storm, being emulated in other cities around the world, and is shaking the foundations of punk rock and beyond. HELLSHOCK Warlord 7" / CDEP

After several excellent releases in the past two years (including an EP, LP and split 10" and split EP) and touring extensively in North and South America, HELLSHOCK has become synonomous with Portland crustcore punk. This new EP, recorded in March 2005, contains two powerful and dark anthems against corporate greed and the state power which upholds it. They also have an new LP, entitled Shadows of the Afterworld, on Feral Ward Records and another EP entitled World Darkness slated for release at the end of May 2005. They will be embarking on afull US tour with Finnish legends SELFISH in June and July 2005, and will tour Japan with EFFIGY in October. Having made such a lasting impression is such a short time (so far) HELLSHOCK are poised to become join such legends as AMEBIX and MISERY in the Crust Punk Hall of Fame!

PROVOKED Prepare for the Cold LP / CD

After nearly 2 years' hiatus from any new recordings, Minneapolis monsters of d-beat crust PROVOKED are back with a vengeance! Picking up where their Infant in the Womb of Warfare LP left off, they return with ten powerful new tracks which clearly highlight their style of mixing classic d-beat thrash, monstrously powerful crust, and just the right amount of metallic guitar riffage. Their new vocalist (Kerri aka "Special K" and The INjustice System section editor for Profane Existence Magazine) holds her own as lead vocalist, taking over the reigns from Scaba, who during their last European tour, found her life's love in Germany on and has opened a vegan cafe there! (A separate CD collection of earlier recordings, featuring Scaba on vocalis, is also being release at this time). As a follow up to their previous LP, the cover art of ths one is also drawn by Bryan K. Ward. Marald has also contributed an amazing piece of artwork for this record, for which a 17 x 22" poster is included inside the vinyl version, along with a 12-page booklet containing lyrics and artwork.

THE COOTERS Punk Metal CD

THE COOTERS are a trio of punk metal bastards, willingly exiled to the backwoods of Mississippi to spread the gospels on the front lines. Being their third and best full-length release, this new CD was written and constructed over the course of three years and skillfully recorded by Tom Queyja in Oxford, Mississippi. THE COOTERS have been blowing away unsuspecting audiences since 1993, formed when bass player Newter Cooter returned to his home territory after living for some time in Minneapolis (where he previously formed the band PISSED and helped edit Profane Existence Magazine, not to mention his own 'zine Assault With Intent to Free). THE COOTERS first EP was released in 1994 and have since been carefully crafting a sound that combines elements of punk, metal, and even some elements of classic southern blues, taking on serious political issues with humor and wit. This is NOT your typical Profane Existence Records release, which of course makes us even more proud to take part.

DISRESPECT 2004 Recordings CD

DISRESPECT started in Minneapolis as a classic 80's punk rock cover band by former and current members of DESTROY, MISERY, CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE, etc. and eventually started writing original songs in the same spirit. This is 80's style anarcho-type punk with three vocalists (two male, one female). In 2004 they released their first two EP's (the self-titled debut and Justice in a Bag, from which the cover artwork originates). Shortly thereafter, giving in to the digitally-impaired, DISRESPECT have collected their 2004 EP tracks onto one compact disc, which also features three previously unreleased covers from the likes of ABRASIVE WHEELS, L7, and TURBO NEGRO. While not a complete discography, this remains the largest collection of DISRESPECT songs on any single release to date.

BALLAST Sound Asleep LP / CD

Ten songs of the most intense punk rock ever to be released in the 15+ year history of Profane Existence Records, the debut LP from Montreal's Ballast is destined to became a classic of our age. The music is an urgent mix of hardcore, crust, and classic peace-punk influences, with the songs being lengthy and very-well structured. The most striking element of their sound are the female-fronted vocal delivery, which is powerful, yet melodic and emotive too, and harmonizes wickedly with the more gruff, male backing vocals. If you need a reference for comparison, imagine the Lost World meets Tragedy! This band has previously self-released an awesome demo cassette, plus an even better 7" EP, and is known for their knock-out live performances. They recently played Minneapolis with the powerhouse bands Sunday Morning Einsteins, Artimus Pyle, and Forca Macabra and hands-down stole the show! MISERY Next Time / Who's the Fool... CD

Some of the best tracks and recordings from Minneapolis' legendary fore-fathers of "crust." Includes their entire 1995 Next Time recording session (including their tracks from the ultra-rare split picture disc with Assrash), the Who's the Fool... BEHIND ENEMY LINES Know Your Enemy LP/CD

A re-issue of their debut LP, originally released by Tribal War Records.... An extremely timely and pointed assault on the current state of non-living in the United Sates. Former Aus-Rotten lyricist and vocalist Dave moves on with former Aus-Rotten drummer Matt, along with Bill Chamberlain on guitar (formerly of The Pist, React, etc.), and another Matt on bass. What you get is brutal punk rock, with the power of a run-away steam roller, and some of the most relavent anarcho-punk lyrics and angry delivery today. The likeness to Aus-Rotten is undeniable, but add on the powerful sound of React and you can get an idea of what the next wave of anarcho-punk will sound like. The LP comes packaged with large Crass-style poster sleeves like all of the Aus-Rotten releases, while the CD now has a standard jewel case, with large fold-out insert.

SAINT BUSHMILL'S CHOIR s/t LP

S.B.C are a 7-piece, Irish influenced punk band comparable to Flogging Molly or Firewater, but with some distinct differences... "The Choir" emerged from the Seattle peace-punk underground and claims former members of The Gits, Subvert, Christdriver, The Pinkos, and more. This self-titled LP is a 12-song follow-up to their 2001 CDEP "Give 'em Enough Booze" on Broken Rekkids. The album was produced by Jack Endino of Nirvana fame and captures the insane live energy of a Choir show. Unrelenting, punked-out Irish jigs and expert musicianship recalls The Pogues, Stiff Little Fingers, and dare we say it, The Clash.

WITCH HUNT EPs & Crucial Chaos Radio Session CD

This CD contains completely remixed and remastered recordings of Witch Hunt's self-titled 7" and split 7" with Deathbag (both now out of print), plus their recording session for WNYU's Crucial Chaos Radio show, recorded on the day the 2nd Gulf War started. This CD contains 13 tracks in all, plus artwork from their EP's... Eric Drooker's artwork in the package caused this to be rejected by the first pressing plant this was sent to, apparently threatening to their conservative Christian family values! The long-awaited debut LP from Garmonbozia, whose previous demo and comp. track releases did a complete injstice to their sound. Haunting crust from Minneapolis with female vocals and cello, which varies from quiet and intricate melodies, to full-on d-beat thrash. They have been compared to the sounds of REMAINS OF THE DAY and MONUMENTS. Their lyrics have a very serious and angry tone to them taking on tough topics like mental health and patriarchal domination within the punk movement.
