NATURAL CAUSE Mess

In the early 90's we had the pleasure of having Assault with Intent to Free editor Newt join the PE staff. One of the many skills Newt brought to the table was an appreciation for innovative punk music. When Madison, WI natives NATURAL CAUSE played Minneapolis, their unique style caught Newt's ear and earned them this EP, jointly released by Profane Existence and the band themselves. Although the band was short-lived (they also released a split EP), this remains one of the most musically inovative and unique records we helped to release.

DEPRIVED / RESIST Fuck All Governments split

The early 90's saw a new generation lifting the punk rock banner in Portland, OR embodying a much needed infusion of youthful idealism, political activism, and brazen anti-authoritarianism. At the forefront of this movement were the bands DEPRIVED and RESIST, who teamed up here for what has become a near legendary split release. Both bands later went on to record numerous releases (DEPRIVED becoming DEFIANCE after a lineup change) and paved the way for many next generation bands such as UNAMUSED, STARVED AND DILERIOUS, BLOOD SPIT NIGHTS and more.

ASBESTOSDEATH Dejection EP

This is the second EP from San Jose's ASBESTOSDEATH, whose gloony and get-wrenching sound was the progenator for a whole new wave of immitators to follow, and was their last recording with the original line-up before changing their name to Sleep.

MORAL SUCKLING Reach

From deep beneath the underground of Salt Lake City's religious zealot- controlled wastelands came Moral Suckling, who recorded one of the most innovative releases ever to aired by PE Records. Due to financial difficulties of the collective during the early 90's, this record was never re-issued after the first pressing of 1000 copies sold out, yet still reamins among our favorites.

ATAVISTIC Vanishing Point

The first (and last) full length release by this politically out-spkoen band from Kent, UK (they have two earleir EP which are now incredibly rare). Atavistic played a combination of noisily chaotic thrash and metal with highly intelligent, deeply political lyrics, making them one of the most misunderstood bands of the time.

Don't be fooled by watered down anthology discs - Profane Existence is the ONLY source for the original raw and brutal recording and original artwork!

DOOM Police Bastard

Five songs recorded in 1989, during the same session in which they recorded their brilliant split LP with NO SECURITY. Considered by many to be their best early material, this classic EP contains the songs "Means to an End," "Relief, Pt. 2," and of course, "Police Bastard." This was the second release ever by Profane Existence Records and is considered a masterpiece of "crust."

We had written to the UK band DAN and offered them to release a record over here in the US.The reply we had received was the band had broken up, but members had formed a new band called Sofahead. We like the female-fronted, up-beat political music enough to release it as the first record on the PE label!

"Right from the initital scream and pounding drum beat you know this is a classic 7". The vocals are always inevitably compared to APPLE sing Jae, and for good reasons. However, Smut are much more powerful than APPLE musically, and faster, too. Great heavy, crunchy medium paced p-u-n-k with no fuckign apologies and no slack. The lyrics are well-written, thoughtfully intertwining various oppressions (homophobia, sexism, greed, etc.) without sounding preachy or fake.
